Established in 1985, Platt College has served the local Southern California community for over 20 years. At its three campuses in Alhambra, near Los Angeles, Ontario and Riverside, in the heart of the Inland Empire, Platt College offers flexible, accredited Associates and Bachelors degree programs in some of today's most dynamic fields.

Classes are conveniently scheduled during morning or evening hours to work around outside employment commitments. For working adults, Platt's curriculum offers a way to continue earning a living while studying for a new career. Financial aid is available for qualified students, and the school maintains a full-time placement staff to assist students in gaining externship experience while in school and employment after graduation.

Medical Assisting
At Platt College, you can earn your Medical Assisting Associate's degree in as little as 15 months.
The Medical Assisting degree program at the Platt College School of Medical Sciences is designed to help you acquire the knowledge and skills required to become a professional medical assistant, working in the fast-growing health care field. Our graduates typically find employment in health care clinics, physicians' offices and hospitals, working as part of a healthcare delivery team interacting with patients, insurers, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Our hands-on curriculum includes training to perform both clinical and administrative procedures, including: taking and reading vital signs, performing venipuncture (blood draws), administering injections, taking patient histories, updating and maintaining patient charts and medical records, and performing basic diagnostic and lab procedures.
As part of our program, Platt College places Medical Assisting students in an externship to provide experience in a real-world clinical setting.
Certification is an important qualification often required by employers. Graduates of our program are eligible to take the Medical Assisting Certification examination offered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) to become a Certified Medical Assistant.

Medical Administrative Specialist
At Platt College, you can earn your Medical Administrative Specialist Associate's degree in as little as 15 months.
The Medical Administrative Specialist degree program at the Platt College School of Medical Sciences is designed to help you acquire the knowledge and skills required to become a professional medical administrative specialist, working in the fast-growing health care field. Our graduates typically find employment in health care clinics, physicians' offices, insurance companies, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities, working as part of a healthcare delivery team interacting with patients, insurers, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Platt College's Medical Administrative Specialist program includes extensive training in medical billing and coding procedures for managed care and private plans, state and government plans, and dental practices. Students also receive training to perform a variety of administrative procedures critical to the daily operation necessary to running a smooth, effective medical office, including: medical office procedures, human resources, medical transcription, patient scheduling, office finance, and delinquent claims tracing and collections. Medical Administrative Specialist students will learn the skills that may lead toward becoming an office manager in a clinical setting.
As part of our program, Platt College places all Medical Administrative Specialist students in an externship to provide experience in a real-world clinical setting.

Paralegal Studies
At Platt College, you can earn your Paralegal Associate's degree in as little as 15 months, or your Bachelor's degree in as little as 26 months.
The Paralegal Studies program at the Platt College School of Legal Studies provides graduates with the practical skills and detailed knowledge of legal procedure necessary to succeed in today's increasingly sophisticated legal environment. Our comprehensive curriculum focuses on key legal areas such as: Criminal Law, Research and Writing, Civil Litigation, Contracts, Family Law, Torts, Legal Writing, Legal Terminology, Paralegal Ethics, and Computerized Office Environment. Bachelors students continue with additional coursework in additional specialized topics such as: Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning, Criminal Law II/Advanced Trial Procedures, Civil Litigation II, Family Law II, Research and Writing II, Labor Law/ Workers' Compensation, Intellectual Property. All paralegal students are introduced to various legal-related computer programs and online research tools during their courses.
Our program prepares paralegals for the many responsibilities they'll encounter in the real world, including:
- preparing legal documents
- initiating motions and discovery
- managing client files and records
- coordinating court appearances
At Platt College, the paralegal curriculum is supplemented with courses in English, environmental sciences, college math, psychology, art history and speech to give students the a well-rounded educational experience focused on developing both subject knowledge and communication, research, and organizational skills. Past graduates have found successful employment in a variety of legal settings including law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies.
Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law.

Criminal Justice
At Platt College, you can earn your Criminal Justice Associate's degree in as little as 15 months.
The Criminal Justice degree program at the Platt School of Legal Studies prepares graduates to pursue careers in law enforcement, criminology, corrections, court administration, victim services, security administration, and immigration. Our curriculum balances theory and application to provide students with foundational knowledge as well as communication and organizational skills. The program includes a study of the national criminal justice system, ethics, and an overview of criminal law. Additional coursework focuses on specialized areas in the field such as correctional organizations, private security, criminal investigative techniques, juvenile justice, terrorism, and forensics. General education courses in mathematics, English, speech, and psychology round out the curriculum.
As part of its Criminal Justice curriculum, Platt College offers students the opportunity to earn their Guard Card certificate. The College is authorized by the Bureau of Security And Investigative Services (BSIS), a division of the Department of Consumer Affairs in the state of California to offer this training, which includes 8 hour power to arrest training, as well as the additional 32 hours of training required (in various subjects) to become a licensed security guard in California.

Respiratory Therapy
Platt College's Respiratory Therapy program prepares graduates to pursue careers in Respiratory Therapy, a dynamic specialty area in the rapidly-expanding health care field.
Upon successful completion of foundational coursework and a clinical externship, graduates of the program are awarded an Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy and are eligible to take both entry level (CRT) and advanced level (RRT) credentialing exams through the National Board for Respiratory Care.
In a typical day as a Respiratory Therapist, you might:
- Assist physicians in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with cardio-pulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities
- Measure critical lung functions
- Monitor heart functions
- Treat newborns, trauma victims, drowning victims, and patients suffering from asthma, bronchitis, coronary heart disease, emphysema, and pneumonia.
Platt College Ontario's program director Robert Wandel has been practicing and teaching in the Respiratory Therapy field for over 30 years.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound)
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) program at the Platt School of Medical Sciences is designed to prepare graduates to pursue careers in Sonography, a dynamic specialty area in the rapidly-expanding health care field. Upon successful completion of foundational coursework and a clinical externship, graduates of the program are awarded an Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Graphic Design
At Platt College, you can earn your Graphic Design Associate's degree in as little as 15 months.
The Graphic Design degree program at the Platt College School of Graphic Design combines visual communication and solid design principles with a general education component to prepare students to enter the dynamic graphic design industry.
Platt College's Associates degree program in graphic design helps you build the skills you need to start an exciting new career in the dynamic graphic design industry.
At Platt's School of Graphic Design, you'll:
- Study color theory, drawing, typography, publishing, layout design, digital imaging, and digital media
- Use the same software, graphics, and hardware tools that are used by professionals in the field
- Be taught by industry professionals
- Familiarize yourself with, and develop your own design projects in, industry-standard tools such as Quark Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash.
You can become a production artist, graphic designer, illustrator, layout artist, or computer artist. You might also work with photo manipulation, typographical design, presentation graphics, prepress production, and design assistant. Graduates from our program have found successful careers as freelance or staff production artists, graphic art designers, advertising art directors, illustrators, layout artists and computer artists, among other professions.

Visual Communication (Web Design and 3D)
Platt College School of Graphic Design’s Bachelors degree program in Visual Communication helps you build the skills you need to start an exciting new career. You choose to specialize in one of three exciting fields: Web Design, 3D Animation, or 2D Print. Each of these specializations provides graduates with the skills necessary to pursue careers in these dynamic industries.
The Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication (BAVC) develops professionals who take concepts and then create visual imagery by employing type, illustration, sound, music, photography, and animation. Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication degree program will produce a professional portfolio that will make them viable candidates for employment in the myriad of industries related to visual communication. Past graduates have found successful employment as animators, computer animators, digital media producers, special effects artists, background designers, computer artists, layout artists, and video game artists.
Regardless of your chose specialization area, you'll begin by developing a strong foundation in the fundamentals of graphic design. Your coursework will combine trainingi in traditional elements such as typography, drawing, color theory, and design principles with technology-based skills using industry-standard software tools in digital video, motion graphics, flash animation, 3D modeling & animation.
After building your design foundation, you'll then move into the specialization area of your choice!
In the 3D Animation specialization, you’ll focus on all aspects of the animation process to learn how create computer generated 3-D formats that make characters and objects come alive. You'll begin with the physics of animation, then move to inorganic and organic character modeling, character kinematics, and motion capture. You'll also learn specific skills in game animation, effects animation, character vocalization, advanced animation production, and demo reel production.
In the Web Design specialization, you'll focusi on Web page design, Flash animation, programming for the Web, DVD production, action scripting, interactive production, and server technologies.
In the 2D Print specialization, you’ll focus on developing print collateral that is used in marketing, branding, and advertising to communicate and motivate action. You’ll expand your skills in key areas such as typography, font creation, design, illustration, photography and proven design principles. You’ll also learn skills designed to help you learn how to work as part of a graphic design team, including marketing dynamics & strategies, art direction, team projects, and prepress.
In all of our specializations, you'll conclude with interactive courses in portfolio preparation designed to better prepare graduates to conduct effective interviews, self-marketing, as well as produce a highly professional and competitive portfolio.

Veterinary Technology
The Veterinary Technology Program at the Platt School of Medical Sciences is specifically designed to provide in-depth study and training necessary to gain entry-level employment in animal health care.
Veterinary Technicians perform many of the same tasks for veterinarians that nurses and other professionals perform for physicians. These tasks generally include: general animal care; surgical assistance; medical treatments; laboratory tests, x-rays; anesthesia; radiology; and nursing and critical care.
Vet Techs typically work closely with Veterinarians in animal clinical health-care settings such as small or large animal hospitals or clinics.
As Vet Techs advance in their careers, many move to management and supervisory positions in animal health-care facilities and service companies.
Upon completion of Platt’s Vet Tech program, graduates of the program are awarded a Veterinary Technician Associates of Science degree.

Hemodialysis Technician
The Hemodialysis Technician Program at the Platt School of Medical Sciences is a comprehensive program designed to prepare students, through lecture and hands-on training, for entry level employment in a dialysis unit. The program consists of 120 hours of lecture and laboratory plus 200 hours of externship training. Clinical assignments are in local hospitals and dialysis centers under the supervision of an experienced hemodialysis nurse.
NOTE: This program, due to its short length, is NOT accredited by ACCSC.
