Medical Assistant Program

Certification Eligibility
Dover Business College's program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Graduates of CAAHEP-accredited Medical Assistant programs are eligible to sit for the CMA exam. Dover is one of only seven programs in the state to have this designation.

The Certified Medical Assistant designation (CMA) is a national credential awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants, indicating that the Medical Assistant meets certain standards of competence. In the State of New Jersey, Medical Assistants who hold the CMA credential are permitted to administer injections.

Become an Important Part of a Medical Team
As a caring, dedicated member of a medical team, a Medical Assistant generally:

  • Takes vital signs and prepares patients for their examinations
  • Assists physicians during examinations
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory tests on the premises

Our Medical Insurance and Coding Administration program will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the medical records and health information field. Choose a combination of on-campus and online courses, or complete almost the entire program online (the internship is on-site).

Certification Eligibility
Graduates of the Medical Insurance Coding Administration program are eligible to sit for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) examination. "Benefits of obtaining a Billing and Coding certification may include more job opportunities, higher wages, and increased job security."*

Multi-Level Patient Care Technician Program

The Multi-Level Patient Care Technician program provides students with the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to enter the healthcare field as Patient Care Technicians. These Patient Care Technicians work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to oversee and monitor patients. As a vital member of the healthcare team, they provide direct patient care and comfort measures, take patients' vital signs, collect specimens, and much more.

Multi-Level Patient Care Technicians who are cross-trained in venipuncture, electrocardiography, long-term care, home healthcare, and medication procedures enjoy much broader responsibilities and advancement opportunities in a variety of clinical settings.

Surgical Processing Technician Program

Our Surgical Processing Technician program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to receive and process supplies and equipment from operating rooms and nursing units throughout the hospital.

Become an Important Part of a Healthcare Team
The Surgical Processing Department, also known as Central Service and Sterile Processing, provides vital support to all areas of patient care, and interacts with personnel from all areas of the hospital. It is the center of all activity involving supplies and equipment needed for surgery and other patient care areas.

  • Surgical instrumentation
  • Processes for maintaining medical devices that must be decontaminated, processed, sterilized, and distributed in hospitals and surgical centers

Surgical Technologist Program

Focus on Your Success as a Surgical Technologist
Dover Business College's Surgical Technologist program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Graduates of CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technologists programs are eligible to sit for the CST exam. The Certified Surgical Technologist designation (CST) is a national credential indicating that the Surgical Technologist meets certain standards of competence. Many employers prefer to hire Surgical Technologists with the CST credential.

Our Surgical Technologist program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.
